Rose Marie Levy, 96, of Cary, N.C., formerly of Scranton, passed away peacefully Thursday at home. She was the widow of the late Leonard Matylewicz and Raymond Levy.
Born in Scranton, she was a daughter of the late Vito and Anna Manghisi Fanelli. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, now St. Paul of the Cross Parish, until she relocated to North Carolina.
Rose was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and worked in the local cigar manufacturing industry. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Surviving are two daughters, Carol Runge and husband, Brian (Colorado), and Donna Kerrigan and husband, Joseph Golaszewski (North Carolina); a son, Atty. Leonard Matylewicz (Los Angeles); eight grandchildren, Tara Ann Carito and husband, Anthony Carito, Lisa Marie Kerrigan, Christine Judith Kerrigan, Branden, Tyler and Travis Matylewicz, and Carlie and Kyle Runge; great-grandchildren, Rocco Anthony and Carmelina Rose (Rosie) Carito; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Antoinette Salamida, Mary Cianfichi and Anna Fanelli; and four brothers, Frank, Martin, James and Joseph Fanelli.
The funeral will be Tuesday with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. from St. Paul of the Cross Parish at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, 1217 Prospect Ave., Scranton, celebrated by the Rev. Scott Sterowski, pastor, followed by interment at Italian American Cemetery. Friends and family may call Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Neil W.
