Cecelia "Ceil" Wyda of South Scranton died Thursday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. Her husband of 60 years, John J. Wyda, preceded her in death in 2006.
Born in Scranton, she was a daughter of the late Teofil and Felicia Senkowski Zulewski. She was a member of Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church and later St. Paul of the Cross Parish. Ceil worked for Capitol Records for over 25 years until its closing and later at Linen Systems until her retirement. Ceil loved being with her family. She took great pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who all helped her to live a long and independent life.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Ann and husband Dennis Crowley, South Abington Twp.; a son, John M. Wyda and wife Joan, Massachusetts; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Wyda, Jessica McHugh and husband Mark, and Matthew and Brian Crowley and his wife Danielle; and six great-grandchildren, Jacob and Joshua McHugh, Madelyn and Gabrielle Wyda, and Connor and Cameryn Crowley.
She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Loretta Zychal, Walter and Ed Zulewski, Victoria Moratta, Frank and Joseph Zulewski, and infant brothers, Stephen and Stanley.
Ceil's family would like to thank Drs. Thomas Minora and Patrick Connors for their excellent care over many years.
The funeral will be Wednesday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, 1217 Prospect Ave., celebrated by the Rev. Mark DeCelles. Interment, parish cemetery, Minooka section.
