Ann Leona Bohan, Pre-arranged Funerals, Neil Regan Funeral Home, Scranton, PA

Ann Leona Bohan, 75, of Scranton, passed away Thursday, January 16 at Commonwealth Health Regional Hospital. Her husband of 31 years, Joseph J. Bohan Jr., died in 2005.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Leona Bates Yacavone and a member of Immaculate Conception Parish. Ann was a 1968 graduate of Scranton Central High School and a 1972 graduate of Wilkes University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in English. From 1974 to 2010, Ann worked as a secretary for the Scranton School District, where she always had a kind word ready for both the students and her coworkers at Scranton Technical High, Scranton High, West Scranton High, and Prescott Elementary. For many years she also did double-duty at the family business, A. H. Noonan, Sacramental Wines; tirelessly helping prepare for the holidays and bottling altar wine on nights and weekends.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Elizabeth, and her sister-in-law, Nancy Bohan. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Marie Genett.

Ann was blessed in her lifetime with many deeply cherished friends. She was lucky to consider Connie Arbochus, Jo McCarthy, Peggy Freeman, Jane Basile, and Jane Blau as her sisters and Rena Petrini as her adopted mother.

She loved antiques and was always on the hunt for a good find, often joking that she should have a bumper sticker warning, "I brake for yard sales!" She struggled with heart disease through three difficult open-heart surgeries and always fought so hard to not only survive, but to thrive as best she could.

Her family wishes to thank the many doctors and healthcare providers who took such excellent care of her over the years, and especially during the past few months.

Ann was truly the best mother. She was loving and supportive, patient and kind. She was the most devoted friend, and a deeply loved member of the community. She will be forever missed.

The funeral will be Friday at 6 p.m. with a memorial service at the Neil W. Regan Funeral Home Inc., 1900 Pittston Ave. Friends may call Friday, from 4-6 p.m. Those attending the visitation and memorial service on Friday are asked to please wear a mask, which will be available at the funeral home. Interment in Cathedral Cemetery will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Scranton Fringe Festival (scrantonfringe.org/support), or a local charity of your choice.
