Dorothy Mahon Shorten, of Scranton, died Sunday at Allied Services Hospice. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Chick" Shorten, in 1990.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Frank and Mary O'Donnell Mahon, Dorothy was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. She was employed by the Scranton School District and worked closely with her husband in the operation of Shorten's Market in South Scranton.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude for the care Dot received at Allied Services Transitional Unit and Hospice Center.
She is survived by a sister, Margaret Mahon Smith, Scranton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Neil and Paul Mahon; and two sisters, Joan Mahon Rinaldi and Mary Mahon Hopkins.
The funeral will be Saturday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Paul of the Cross Parish at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, 1217 Prospect Ave., celebrated by the Rev. Scott Sterowski, pastor.
