Finley Barrett O'Malley

Finley Barrett O'Malley, Pre-arranged Funerals, Neil Regan Funeral Home, Scranton, PA

Finley Barrett O'Malley, 13, of Scranton, died Friday, Dec. 7 at Geisinger Community Medical Center.

Born in Scranton, he was a son of Kelly Barrett and Nicholas O'Malley and stepson of Joseph Wentland. He was in seventh grade at Northeast Scranton Intermediate School.

We have lost a gentle soul that was very special in so many ways. His spirit of genuine kindness and gentle love will live forever. His little brother Eamon, Mamie and Papa, the Barrett, O'Malley and Wentland families, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and so many others that his life touched will always remember him as the good young man he was.

His gift of patience, caring for and respecting others and his love of his dear friends and dog, Hammer, and his uncle Elijah, whom he looked up to for guidance, and playing guitar with his teacher and mentor Uncle Samuel brought great joy to him and his family.

Finley's life was a wonderful example to look up to. An adventurous soul who loved playing outside, he cherished the simple things in life, loved his family dearly and watched over his younger brother with great care and a friendship that will live forever.

While hearts are broken they will slowly recover, knowing that his love is deep within us. We will miss him dearly and hope to live up to his example in wishing to make this world a kinder and better place for us all.

In his last parting gesture of love he gave of himself to the Gift of Life Foundation that others may live. He is our superhero, and he will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him. We will always love and miss you, Finny-bear, love Mom, Dad, Joe and Eamon.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life Sunday, Dec. 16 from 3 to 7:30 p.m. at the 20th Ward Social and Athletic Club, 2028 Pittston Ave., Scranton, PA 18505. Arrangements, Neil W.
